Police Officer

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Under general supervision, performs tasks related to ensuring the public safety and law enforcement of criminal activities.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.*

  1. Patrols assigned area by vehicle or other means. Responds to emergency situations. Administers emergency medical care. Directs and reroutes traffic around fire or other disruptions. Investigates unusual or suspicious conditions, traffic accidents or complaints. Issues traffic citations.
  2. Writes reports on investigations, offenses, arrests and activities. Prepares probable cause affidavits, books and guards prisoners. Questions suspects.
  3. Contacts and assists the public. Transports prisoners. Collects and preserves evidence.
  4. Testifies in court.
  5. Disperses unruly crowds.
  6. Participates in training conferences and programs. Performs surveillance of businesses or citizens. Meets with informants. Works undercover.
  7. Trains cadets in the use and care of firearms.
  8. Conducts On-the-Job-Training for cadets and new officers.
  9. Sets up tactical positions and emergency response for special missions.
  10. Operates data terminal. Communicates by radio and monitor transmissions. Effects arrests.
  11. Reports problem areas and facilitate solutions.
  12. Enforces federal, state and local laws.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and/or Equivalent Experience:

Completion of police academy training including six weeks of on-the-job-training.

Licenses or Certifications Required:

Texas Class C Drivers License.

Police Officer Certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education.

Salary range: $66,846.38 to $79,400.24/yearly

ACCOUNTING CLERK – FINANCE DEPARTMENT

The Accounting Clerk provides vital support to the City’s Finance Department by assisting with daily financial operations. This position performs a variety of accounting and administrative tasks, including accounts payable and receivables, payroll support, reconciliations, journal entries, purchasing, inventory management, and financial reporting. The role also supports customer service and departmental operations.

Salary: $41,600 to $54,080 annually

Essential Duties:

Serve as the first point of contact for the public in person and by phone; answer questions and direct inquiries appropriately.

Assist with accounts payable and limited payroll processing, including entering invoices, preparing vendor payments, and resolving discrepancies.

Reconcile daily cash receipts, prepare and enter bank deposits.

Prepare journal entries and perform routine account reconciliations; research and resolve variances.

Create, organize, and maintain accounting, limited payroll data, and departmental files.

Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year‐end reporting, as well as the annual audit.

Support utility billing operations, maintain customer information and process customer payments.

Coordinate the purchasing of supplies for various departments while adhering to the City’s purchasing policy while ensuring cost-effective purchasing and proper documentation.

Monitor and track asset inventory.

Issue park passes and coordinate park reservations while maintaining appropriate documentation.

Issue boat launch passes while maintaining appropriate documentation.

Assist with Finance Department record retention and archiving.

Coordinate and complete special projects as assigned.

Perform other related duties as required.

Job Requirements:

Knowledge of:

Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), particularly as they relate to governmental finance.

Modern office practices, procedures, and customer service standards.

Purchasing procedures and basic inventory management.

Accounting and financial software; experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Incode preferred.

Accurately process invoices, payments, purchasing orders, and financial transactions.

Track and manage inventory efficiently and maintain appropriate supply levels.

Maintain organized and detailed financial and administrative records.

Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and documents with accuracy and attention to detail.

Operate standard office equipment, including computers, copiers, calculators, and multi-function devices.

Communicate effectively using proper business English, spelling, and punctuation.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, officials, outside agencies, and the public.

Communicate clearly and professionally both orally and in writing.

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

• Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

• Required: Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience.

• Preferred: Payroll experience (2 years), helpful but not required.

• Or: Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED

• Valid Texas driver’s license or reliable alternative transportation.

• Ability to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
